In the Autumn term, SCYO will present a very special project indeed - two concert performances of Prokofiev's thrilling 'Peter and the Wolf'. All of the characters are there, from
the quacking duck oboe to the terrifying guns of the timpani. With some fantastic music and an even more brilliant narrator, there will be not one but two performance of this brilliant work. One in the early evening for
younger children and one later in the day for adults and older children. With various sections of the orchestra showcased as animal characters (plus Peter, of course!), it's as much fun
for the performers as it is for the orchestra!
We're thrilled to announce that actor and musician John Telfer has agreed to narrate both performances. John's voice is recognised by millions each week as the voice of the Rev. Alan Franks on Radio 4's 'The Archers'. John originally trained in Music & Theatre at York University and the Bristol Old Vic, before going on to star in TV shows like Bergerac, Skins, Casualty, Holby City and more. He is in demand as a narrator, and has recently read the audiobooks of Sherlock Holmes and Torchwood to name but a few. He also plays keyboard and sings. I'm sure you'll agree John's input will make the event extra special for all involved and watching.
